Nb3Cl8 (Niobium Chloride)

Nb3Cl8 is a semiconductor with a band gap of ∼1.1 eV. The crystal shows a magnetic-nonmagnetic phase transition at ∼100 K. The layers are stacked together via van der Waals interactions and can be exfoliated into thin 2D layers. Nb3Cl8 belongs to the group Transition Metal Halides (TMHs).
