Bi2(SexTe1-x)3 is a topological insulator. Substitution of tellurium by selenium optimizes the thermolelectric properties of the Bi2(SexTe1−x)3 and effectively adjusts the carrier density. This way, a high average ZT of 0.97 between 300 and 500 K can be reached. The layers are stacked together via van der Waals interactions and can be exfoliated into thin 2D layers.
