3R-MoS2 (Molybdenum Disulfide)
MoS2 (3R phase) is a semiconductor with a tunable band gap of 0.80 (0.86) eV for bulk and 1.81 (1.66) eV for monolayer samples. The crystal occurs naturally and shows good thermodynamic stability. Molybdenum Disulfide in the 3R phase is used in the fields of photonics, optoelectronics, and catalysis The layers are stacked together via van der Waals interactions and can be exfoliated into thin 2D layers. MoS2 belongs to the group-VI transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDC).
